Blossom Ring Vase

This striking decorative vase makes an elegant and functional accent piece that adds a modern natural touch to home decor.

I used several techniques to create this handmade ceramic vase. I threw the form on the wheel and hand-painted the surface with several coats of slip (liquid clay) that I had tinted a soft-green shade. I then carved blossoms inspired by sakura blooms using a technique known as sgraffito. For its second firing, I dipped the vase in a shiny clear glaze for durability and gloss. Finally, I outlined the blooms with porcelain paint.
