Floral Rim Bowl

Inspired by the beautiful florals of quilting fabric, this charming bowl is embellished with a generous sprinkling of diminutive blooms around the rim. Serve a side dish for entertaining, snacks, a small salad or a generous portion of toppings. Use it as a decorative accent or to organize your treasures. Plus, it looks equally attractive filled or empty.

This stoneware bowl was thrown on a potter’s wheel. After firing it in an electric kiln, I hand painted each little flower in a repeating pattern using underglazes mixed in custom shades. The painted pattern gets set with a second firing in the kiln. Finally, I used a sky-blue glaze on the exterior for a smooth glossy finish before its final glaze firing.
