Blue Hydrangea Serving Plate

For this platter, I threw the form on the wheel as a plate form while gently encouraging a flared rim. After its bisque firing, I hand painted the plate's face with hydrangea blooms in a cheery blue underglaze with delicate brown stems. After a second bisque firing, I glazed the underside with a coordinating sky-blue glaze, which I also used to sponge over the flower petal for a diffused romantic effect.
